We strongly believe that the Treasury response was once again very unsatisfactory in that it deals only with the matter from a pure Government perspective, and no consideration has been given to reviewing the matter from the viewpoint of the shareholders who were totally and unfairly deprived of their shareholdings.
Furthermore, the whole matter should be determined on the facts as they are NOW, e.g. that the Government has made a very substantial profit from the nationalisation of Northern Rock. It should NOT be based on the 2007 expectations, which have been proved quite wrong.
There are also numerous inconsistencies and errors in the Treasury arguments.
Our appeal to Prime Minister, The Right Hon Theresa May MP on 14th September 2017.
